A Victoria Supreme Court jury has found Maddingley Mechanic Christopher Trotter not guilty of murder.
Mr Trotter has been on trial since June 2 for the murder of missing man Keith Foggin.
The two men were acquainted after Mr Foggin delivered his 1979 XD Ford station wagon to Maddingley Car Care in 2012.
The jury heard Mr Trotter had been restoring the vehicle over time.
Mr Foggin disappeared on September 24, 2015. His body has never been found.
The jury announced their verdict just after 12:30pm today after two days deliberating.
Mr Trotter’s family and friends erupted into tears of joy and relief. The 45-year old mechanic maintained a plea of not guilty throughout the trial.
He will be released from remand more than 21-months after Mr Foggin’s disappearance.
