Two recreational facilities in Ballan have been left without water following the theft of
a meter and two hot water units.
The Ballan Recreation Reserve was broken into at around 5-5:30am this morning (Wednesday, December 20). Two Infinity hot water units, valued at around $1,800 each, were taken from the reserve, as well as two empty keg beer barrels.
Recreation Reserve President, Bill Smith said CCTV footage showed two males loitering at around 3:20am-4am on Tuesday (December 19).
The pair allegedly left empty handed, however Mr Smith said he later noticed the door of the cage, which housed the hot water units, was open and the lock damaged and broken.
Mr Smith said the lock was repaired during the day on Tuesday.
Later that day, Moorabool Shire Council was alerted to the theft of a water meter located at the Ballan Pool.
The theft, which is believed to have occurred sometime between Monday night and early Tuesday morning, forced the pool to close for the day, despite temperatures exceeding 30-degrees.
Mr Smith said upon attending the Reserve, at around 11am on Wednesday, he noticed the door of the cage was open and the hot water units were gone.
Police are seeking to identify the two males pictured in the CCTV footage.
Anyone with information is urged to call Ballan Police on 5368 1303 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
