The State election is still two-months away and the promises are now starting to roll in.
With the masterplan in place and Stage 1 nearing completion the Ballan Recreation Reserve will benefit from an announcement of $1 million.
Andrew Kilmartin is the Liberal Candidate for Buninyong and made the pledge last week at the recreation facility.
“The masterplan is done, and this is a shovel ready project and needs our support,” he said.
“Moorabool Mayor Paul Tatchell has been hounding us relentlessly to get this done and we look forward to working with council on this project, that has endless benefits to the community.”
Mr Kilmartin said country sporting clubs are the lifeblood of communities and the Liberal Nationals are committed to supporting local sporting clubs by investing in their facilities.
An elected Liberal Nationals government will contribute $1 million towards the upgrade of Ballan Recreation Reserve, allowing Stage 2 of the masterplan to be implemented.
President of the Reserve Billy Smith said the funding was vital.
“This pre-election funding announcement will see Stage 2 become a reality and also enable us to attract other sources of funding,” he said.
Stage 2 will include a demolished and rebuilt multi-purpose function facility and changerooms that are female friendly.
“The second stage of the masterplan will benefit all user groups,” Mr Smith said.
User groups at the recreation reserve include football, netball, tennis, lawn bowls, karate, walking groups and cricket.
