A truck driver has lost his life in an accident at Parwan last Monday, 25 March.
Investigators believe the driver was travelling north along Geelong-Bacchus Marsh road at 6.30am when it collided with a rogue trailer from a southbound truck; causing the former to leave the road and plough through a fence, before crashing through a shed.
The 55-year-old Bacchus Marsh driver of the northbound truck – the sole occupant of the vehicle – died at the scene.
It is believed the southbound truck was attempting to negotiate a bend before crossing into the northbound lane.
The driver attempted to correct the truck, but the trailer stayed in the northbound lanes, where it collided with the northbound truck, causing it to veer off the road.
The 50-year-old driver of the southbound truck is currently assisting the Major Collision Investigation Unit.
Police are interested to speak to the driver of a vehicle captured on dashcam at the intersection of Smiths Road and Bacchus-Geelong Road at 6.30am seconds before the collision.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash cam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.
