It’s been two decades since the Bacchus Marsh Players performed at the local public hall, but they’re ready to get the show on the road again.
The amateur theatre group is planning for a 2017 Winter/Spring
Season, which will be kicked off at a public meeting on Saturday April 8.
Darley resident and group convener, Leon Newton said anyone interested was encouraged to get in touch and join in the fun.
“Amateur theatre has a long but intermittent history in Bacchus Marsh. It’s time to get the show on the road again,” he said.
“People in Moorabool Shire and in Melton are very welcome to join in, but we want our base of operations to be in Bacchus Marsh, where it’s been more than 20 years since the Bacchus Marsh Players performed at the public hall.
“An amateur theatre production is always a lot of fun for audiences, the performers and all the on-stage crew as well – everyone can participate”.
Secretary of the Bacchus Marsh Arts Council, John Spain said the Arts Council strongly supported the new Bacchus Marsh group.
“Our mission is to promote all of the arts in our district. This is an exciting initiative and we’ll help in whatever ways we can”.
The Amateur Theatre Group will meet at the James Young Room in the Lerderderg Library, Bacchus Marsh at 2pm on April 8. The meeting is open to anyone interested in participating in, or supporting, the group. For more information, contact Leon Newton on 0418 146 161 or email@example.com.
