A feline that ‘hung’ around a local opportunity shop, that raises money for the local hospital, has mysteriously vanished.
A ‘cat burglary’ seems to have occurred at Opportunity on Inglis after the store closed for two-weeks to complete refurbishments late last year.
The artwork of a steel cat (Le Chat) made by local artist Velislav Georgiev, hung from the front of the op shop, was allegedly taken at some stage during the store’s closure between October 28 and November 11.
“We have asked around town, but to no avail,” a Ballan District Health and Care spokesperson told the Moorabool News.
“Perhaps someone mistakenly thought all of the materials were rubbish, without the knowledge of the value of the piece of artwork.
“The sign is synonymous with Ballan and our op shop, and we’d love to display it again – it is really beautiful and treasured by the op shop team.”
The spokesperson said they understand genuine mistakes can be made.
“We would love if anyone who has any knowledge of the disappearance to let us know.”
Police have been informed and anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000; Ballan Police – 5368 1303 or call in to the Opportunity on Inglis shop in the main street of Ballan with information.
