A woman fighting significant health issues trusted a priest to apply a spiritual healing, instead he betrayed that trust, a court has heard.
The defendant, a 46-year-old priest who the Moorabool News have chosen not to identify to protect the victim, entered a plea of guilty in the Ballarat Magistrate’s court on Tuesday 2 September.
The victim of the assault was a 28-year-old female who suffered from chronic bowel disease and a brain tumour.
Prosecutor Senior Constable Steven Kent told the court before Magistrate Ron Saines, the accused had been a priest for 18 years and moved to Australia from his country of origin in 2019.
